Tech giant Microsoft has updated its Skype for Web service by rolling out a feature that allows users to call mobile phones and landlines. With the new update, users of Skype for Web can now make international calls directly from their browser to any cellphone or landline provided they have enough Skype credits or subscription.

Skype for Web is still in its beta phase and is considered by many as an easier way of accessing the service since it does not require download or installation. Instead, Skype for Web, as the name suggests, gives users access to their Skype accounts via standard web browsers.
Microsoft rolled out the new international call feature on March 14. Along with it, Microsoft also added a feature that allows users to watch YouTube videos directly on the Skype for Web page instead of opening a separate tab.
Microsoft also rolled out a feature that gives users the ability to add people to a conversation even if they are not on Skype. Additionally, users who are signed into Skype for Web will now receive notifications even if they are not in the tab where the service is opened.
On the business side of things, Microsoft recently expanded that availability of its Public Switched Telephony Network conference to 17 additional international locations. This new list of countries added into Microsoft's PSTN will bring the total supported countries to 32. The Redmond-based tech giant claims that it plans to bring the figure to 100 by the end of June 2016.
Microsoft, along with several conferencing equipment vendors, also launched a new initiative called Project Rigel. The goal of the initiative is to bring Skype Meeting experience to any meeting room that has a display or projector. Project Rigel also aims to turn Windows 10 devices into a control hub for Skype for Business online meetings within the second half of the year.
