Perennial Spanish top flight powerhouse Real Madrid CF is reportedly set to offer James Rodriguez to English Premier League giant Chelsea FC in exchange for Eden Hazard this summer to virtually pull off a midfielder swap between the two clubs.

ESPN reported that Los Blancos is keen on persuading the Blues at the end of the season for the two clubs to push through with the "sensational swap deal" that will see both teams trade arguably their best midfielders at the moment.

The report said that the 25-year-old Belgian has not "had the greatest season for Chelsea after sparkling so often last time around" while the 24-year-old Colombian has not "pulled up many trees this season either".

A "fresh start" for both players "could be an attractive proposition", the report continues, even as Hazard is reportedly valued at £100 million by Stamford Bridge officials, which is the only thing that could hinder the said deal.

Hazard is reportedly a long-time admirer of current Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and the feeling is said to be mutual as the coach is also an avid fan of the former Premier League Player of the Season.

After a breakthrough season last year where Hazard scored 14 goals in 38 domestic top flight appearances en route to winning the EPL title, the Belgium international has been goalless in 23 games so far this season.

His sharp decline in form did not affect the Pensioners' decision to still sell him at such a high price, but Los Vikingos is said to be willing to give up Rodriguez just to sidestep that "massive valuation", according to Caught Offside.

Rodriguez is also having a disappointing campaign at the Bernabéu this season, appearing in only 18 games in the Spanish domestic top flight mainly due to injuries but scoring five times in the process.

Hazard was signed by Chelsea from Ligue 1 team Lille in the summer of 2012 for a transfer fee of £32 million while Rodriguez joined Los Blancos in 2014 from another French club, AS Monaco, for £70 million.
