As fans become more eager to learn if Cote de Pablo is indeed returning to "NCIS" season 13 as Ziva, recent spoilers suggested that the role would only be very minimal, or might just even be "in the background."

Accordingly, the 36-year-old Chile-born actress will come back prior to Michael Weatherly's anticipated exit.

While some followers of the CBS police procedural drama series might have been expecting that the former star of the play "A Little Night Music" will come back with a bang, its showrunner's latest statement to the media seemed to have debunked this.

In an interview with TV Line, Gary Glasberg hinted that that "NCIS" season 13 production team has actually been contemplating about the reunion of Cote de Pablo's Ziva and Michael Weatherly's Tony DiNozzo, her love interest.

"You can't have Tony leave the show and not get into that in some respect," the executive producer said while adding, "so plan on it being discussed and handled, even if it's in background."

Based on the comments posted by fans to the article about Glasberg's interview, it can be noted that they appeared disappointed especially that she was part of "NCIS" for eight years before leaving it in 2013.

"That sounds very disappointing," one fan wrote. "I was hoping Ziva would actually appear in the season finale."

In the meantime, it was learned that in the March 22 episode of the TV show is speculated to see Robert Wagner as Anthony DiNozzo Sr., the businessman father of the special agent, extending a hand to a homeless lady who thought that he is her father.
