NBA Recap: Los Angeles Lakers Top Memphis Grizzlies, Jordan Clarkson Scores 22 Points

(Photo : gettyimages.com) Jordan Clarkson finished the game with team-high 22 points to lead the LA Lakers beat the Memphis Grizzlies.

Los Angeles Lakers got the better of the visiting Memphis Grizzlies with a 107-100 victory at the Staple Center on Tuesday evening.

Gilas Pilipinas prospect Jordan Clarkson finished the game with team-high 22 points and reserve Brandon Bass scored 18 points to lead the Western Conference lowly club to their 15th win in 70 games this season.

"We were moving the ball, but a lot of it started on the defensive end," Clarkson, who went 8 for 13 from the field and connected 2 for 3 from beyond the arc, said. "We just stuck to the game plan."

Kobe Bryant scored 20 points but sat out in the final four minutes of the game as head coach Byron Scott wanted "to see what these guys can do."

"I thought they played hard," Bryant said of the young group. "I think it's time for them to make that jump. Now it's time to really lock in on those details."

Starter D'Angelo Russell, who was sidelined by a bruised shin, chipped in with 11 points, while Julius Randle had a double-double production of 13 points and 14 rebounds.

With the win, the Lakers snapped their four-game losing skid and improved to 10-25 at home. They have won four of their last ten games. While the Grizzlies, suffered the team's 31st defeat in 72 games played this season and dropped to 16-20 on road.

The Lakers ended the first half leading by a point 48-47. Memphis scored six straight points in the early minutes of the third period but the Lakers held on with Bryant scoring 12 points of the 33 points Los Angeles produced in the third quarter.

The game entered the final twelve minutes of the game with Lakers still in front with 81-78. The Grizzlies were limited to just 22 points, while the host team managed to score 26 points and seal the win.

Tony Allen led Memphis with 27 points.
