It appears that Rockstar has started its preliminary work “Grand Theft Auto 6,” but said a location had not yet been settled on but it might choose United States.
It is not a surprise that Rockstar would begin laying the early foundations for its next “GTA” instalment so soon since it has been more than two years since the initial release of “GTA 5.”

"This is an exciting opportunity to develop cutting-edge architectures and high performance systems for current and next-gen platforms," said someone who knows the matter. It hints that a new engine might be in the works and even if “Red Dead Redemption 2” does not use it, there is a very good chance that “GTA 6” will.
Rockstar had plans to create “GTA: Tokyo” and even visited the Japanese capital years ago to assess its potential for full “GTA” game. However, the game developer did not push through with the idea. The Rockstar has realized the difficulty in moving the game outside of the United States. It said that there are a number of series staples, from brands to cars, which they would like to change if a future “GTA” was set somewhere else.
In addition, the company also filed trademark applications for “GTA: Bogota” and “GTA: Sin City,” but those never materialized either. Trademark applications do not necessarily mean much just like Activision that also trademarked “Call of Duty: Space Warfare” and “Future Warfare” that never came to light as well.
There is also a speculation that the next instalment for “Red Dead” will be announced later this year. The game also runs on a new game engine. Previously, Rockstar posted a job listing for an engineer who would be doing the design engine in order to confirm the claim that the will be running on new technology.
