The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will reportedly feature a rechargeable stylus pen. A U.S. patent shows that Microsoft is developing a rechargeable Surface Dock and Surface Pen. The Surface Pro 4's stylus pen works with a triple A battery or a button cell.

According to Microsoft, "a stylus may provide active functionality that is powered by a rechargeable battery. A charging circuit within the stylus may provide charging current for recharging the battery via one or more terminals configured to contact charging contacts of an associated stylus charger."

The Surface Pro 4 sports a 12.3-inch screen with the 6th gen Intel Core M, i7 or i5 processors running on Windows 10 whereas its successor is expected to have an Intel Skylake processor and a pre-installed Windows 10 Redstone 2 OS. It is also likely to come with a 4K display.

The Microsoft Surface Book, on the other hand, features a 13.5-inch PixelSense screen with 3000 x 2000 pixels resolution. The Surface Book also boasts of a 10-hour battery life on a single charge, while running on Windows 10 Pro. Microsoft is said to be busy working on the Surface Phone and Windows 10 Redstone OS, and this may delay the release date of the Surface Pro 5.
