Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Götze is reportedly keen on reuniting with former Borussia Dortmund boss Jürgen Klopp in Liverpool this summer.

The 23-year-old World Cup winner is said to be struggling "to make his mark at the Allianz Arena" for the past two seasons with the Bavarians and may have "set his heart on linking up again" with Klopp, who is now managing the English Premier League club Liverpool FC, as per the Mirror.

The report further said that Götze allegedly "believes that his former boss can help him reignite a career that has stalled at Bayern Munich" as he has fallen out of favor in current Bayern manager Pep Guardiola's system.

Götze is said to be prepared on exiting Munich at the end of the season even though the Spaniard head coach is also set to move to Manchester City this summer when former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti takes over.

The 5-foot-9 Memmingen, Germany native, who scored the winning goal in the final of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, said to have played his best football under Klopp in Dortmund as he scored 10 goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances during their last season together in 2012-2013.

Götze was acquired by Bayern from the Borussians in the summer of 2013 for a reported transfer fee of £30 million (€37 million). He had played a total of 105 games with the German champions, scoring 34 times in three seasons so far. This season, though, Götze has only managed a single goal in just eight domestic league appearances.

Caught Offside noted that the Bavarians are intending to "recoup most of the £30m that they paid for Götze in 2013" even as the Germany international only has one season left in his deal after this season.

Götze began his senior career with BVB in 2009-2010 as he also came from the club's youth academy. He played 116 games and had scored 31 times in four seasons with the Borussians all under the guidance of Klopp.
