The day after the MTV VMAs, model Karrueche Tran appeared on the BET show "106 & Park" and did a skit entitled "Top Six Things Blue Ivy Thought At the VMAs". Number six was "I really did wake up like this, because my parents never comb my hair."
Tran, who was not involved with writing the script, immediately backtracked and said "Sorry, Blue! I love you!" However, despite the apology, the joke did not sit well with audiences.

Fans of the 2-year old toddler's parents, Beyonce and Jay Z, took to Twitter to openly criticize and show their disgust. Because the joke was a racial criciticism on a child, Twitter messages were expectedly ugly.
One user tweeted, "@karrueche bitch u not a celebrity and how dare u diss a lil baby!!!!", while another posted, "Worried about Blue's hair? Worry about being a side chick & storing acorns in your mouth you chipmunk in the face looking bitch @karrueche."
Some comments even made references to Karrueche's Asian heritage. "Blue Ivy will buy all of Vietnam and have ur whole fam working for House of Dereon @karrueche," user Rihanna's Wild Thing wrote.
26-year old Tran, Chris Brown's on-again, off-again girlfriend, responded to the the backlash by saying ""Now y'all know I LOVE me some Beyonce and Blue Ivy! I didn't write this script y'all!"
However, despite showing her allegiance to the "Beyhive", users continued to send her hateful messages and, even death threats.
Because of the nastiness that ensued, Stephen Hill, the President of Music Programming and Specials at BET, took to Twitter to defend Tran, saying that they are issuing a public apology to Blue Ivy and her parents and that those responsible for the joke have been dealt with. They accept responsibility for the "very bad judgment" and ask people to stop hating on Tran because it was not her fault.
