Shailene Woodley and Theo James' passionate kiss failed to save "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" from bombing at the box office.

In the opening weekend, it managed to earn just $29,027,348 and in a month since its release, it has grossed almost $137 million. Reviewers have also blasted the film and given it a low rating, which could have had contributed to the dismal performance at the box-office.

'The Divergent Series: Allegiant' is a science fiction film in which Tris and Four can be seen climbing up an abandoned structure. After climbing up a decent height, the two share a moment of passion.

The latest instalment of the 'Divergent' series will follow the two protagonists as they escape the walled city of Chicago. They will be running away in hopes of exploring the world beyond the wall. They will meet new antagonists, unearth more questions and take up more challenges.

The movie will be following up from right where 'The Divergent Series: Insurgent' ended last year. It was seen in that movie that after Tris, Four and their team defeat the Erudite leader Jeanine Matthews, their group discovered that their dystopian society is the result of a dangerous experiment.

This experiment was used to create powerful Divergents. Tris also learns that the mysterious Bureau of Genetic Welfare will get a new character named David, who appears to be pretty dark and mysterious.

Many fans apparently did not like Vernoica Roth's original ending, which involved the death of Tris. The author recently addressed rumors of an alternate ending as in the film's storyline saying, "This is not the first time that a book's story will get revamped according to a popular opinion."

'The Divergent Series: Allegiant' will be the first half of the two part conclusion for the 'Divergent' series. The entire series is based on Veronica Roth's bestselling adult fantasy novels.
