Erin Heatherton, who popularly graced the walls and pages of Victoria's Secret stores and catalogs, has opened up about the struggles she went through while working for the lingerie brand. According to her, Victoria's secret pressured her to lose weight, which made her depressed.
The gorgeous 27-year old worked for Victoria's Secret for five years and she revealed to Motto that she was asked to lose weight for her last few shows in 2013. She recalled the occasion and said, "My last two Victoria's Secret shows, I was told I had to lose weight. I look back like, 'Really?'"

Heatherton disclosed that at the time, she was extremely depressed because she felt like her body was not just responding to her despite how hard she was exercising and working out. Heatherton said it "got to a point where one night I got home from a workout and I remember staring at my food and thinking maybe I should just not eat."
Heatherton said she decided to quit Victoria's Secret in 2013 after making a realization that she can not parade her body in front of lots of women who look up to her and think of her as their role model.
As for why she is talking about it now, Heatherton believes that sharing her experience will help encourage women. She shared an Instagram photo of herself, accompanied by a lengthy post, in which she confidently wrote, "I am not perfect," and told people that she will not be hiding "behind a fabricated version" of herself.
This is not the first time that a model has spoken about bodyshaming, which, in truth, has mostly been directed toward women. One of the top supermodels today Gigi Hadid also took to Instagram to silence haters by saying that she represents "a body image that wasn't accepted in high-fashion before." She even bluntly told them that despite their mean comments, she would not be changing her body.
Swedish model, Agnes Hedengard, who only had 17.5 BMI at the time, chose YouTube to inform the world that she has been struggling with work as the industry labeled her as "too big."
As for Heatherton, she revealed that she is now living a healthy lifestyle, by eating properly and working out. Although she gave up a highly sought-after spot in Victoria's Secret, she said that quitting was the right thing for her to do.
