Robert Downey Jr. will still be seen on the big screen as the billionaire superhero Iron Man in a few Marvel movies. Unfortunately, 'Iron Man 4' is not one of them.

Alhough Downey Jr. has repeatedly said that a fourth 'Iron Man' is not considered in MCU's phase three, that has not stopped rumors from persisting that a fourth installment is included in Marvel's movie lineup for 2020.

The box-office franchise has amassed such a huge following, but Downey Jr. said that it is simply not in the works. In fact, according to Hit Flix , the 51-year old actor revealed that 'Captain America: Civil War' is sort of his 'Iron Man 4.'

"In a way, it's Cap 3, but for me it's like my little Iron Man 4 and then it's back to the thing we all recognize," Downey Jr. said. "Everything pulls over to the side of the road when the thunder of an Avenger thing comes through because that's how it us until it changes. If it changes," he added.

Joe Russo, director of 'Ant-Man,' 'Captain America' and 'Avengers' movies also shared his sentiments about the matter, which fueled the rumor mill more. He said that it is impossible to replace Downey Jr. as Iron Man, thus the superhero will take a hiatus, should he decide to give up the role.

There are several untitled films Marvel has lined up for 2020 and fans are still hopeful that 'Iron Man 4' is one of them. The 'Iron Man' movies have earned more than $2 billion, making it one of the most successful Marvel franchises.  

Meanwhile, catch Iron Man in 'Captain America: Civil War' which will premiere in London on April 26, in the rest of the UK on April 29 and in North America on May 6. The international release will begin on April 27.
