Former NBA superstar Charles Barkley has recently implored the NBA to move the 2017 All-Star Game away from Charlotte, North Carolina as a sign of protest to the state's newly-signed anti-LGBT law.
The 53-year-old NBA legend is reportedly taking a stand against the said state's new law, signed by Republican governor Pat McCrory last month, which basically prohibits transgenders from using the comfort room of their choice, ordering them to use those according to their gender of birth.

The law has been extensively criticized not only by the LGBT community but also by human rights organizations and the 11-time NBA All-Star and former league MVP is said to be one of those who condemns the ruling.
"I think the NBA should move the All-Star Game from there (Charlotte) next year. As a black person, I'm against any form of discrimination - against whites, Hispanics, gays, lesbians," Barkley said, as reported by The Guardian. "It's my job, with the position of power that I'm in and being able to be on television, I'm supposed to stand up for the people who can't stand up for themselves. So, I think the NBA should move the All-Star Game from Charlotte."
Meanwhile, reigning NBA MVP and defending champion Stephen Curry was mum about the issue, saying that he is not well-versed about the said regulation but believes that "no one should be discriminated against".
"I knew I would be asked about my views on the situation in North Carolina and potential ramifications on next year's All-Star Game in Charlotte, which I hope can be resolved," Curry told the Mercury News. "While I don't know enough about the North Carolina law to comment more fully, no one should be discriminated against."
"I know the NBA has a stance on equality and incorporating all beliefs and people from all sorts of backgrounds. It's interesting how that intersection is, with the state law and the NBA having an event there," he added.
