Amazon has a plan of launching a new Kindle device, but without an official announcement yet.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said that fans should expect the new model sometime this week. The new Kindle device is called Kindle Oasis, the company’s new flagship e-reader for the most hardcore digital readers. Amazon’s new Kindle would be the 8th version of Amazon's e-book reader. The last Kindle was released in 2014.

Kindle Oasis is smaller compared to the Kindle Voyage. It only weighs 131 grams compared to 180 grams for the Kindle Voyage and 205g for the Kindle Paperwhite. A built-in accelerometer automatically rotates the display if the user switches from the left hand to the right hand. Its back is not flat at all, with bump below the buttons. It allows the user to hold the Kindle more comfortably with one hand, and it is also a way to make it lighter.

The Oasis features a 300ppi screen, matching the Kindle Voyage in terms of sharpness and text clarity, and there has been a 60 percent increase in the number of LEDs inside, so the back-lighting should be even more uniform when the user is reading in the dark.

It is super slim too with only 3.4 mm thick on one side, while the other side that has a grip is 8.5mm. The device itself has its own battery too, making it a double battery system to conserve as much power as possible. The battery case has magnets so it easily attaches to the device. When the device is attached to the case and plugged in, both batteries will charge. When it is unplugged, it will first use the case’s battery before tapping into the Kindle’s internal supply.

In addition, the Oasis’ software will include a “sleep mode” feature, which contributes to best-ever longevity for the Kindle line. The case apparently has a leather cover and comes in three different colors: red, black and brown

However, it is worth noting that Oasis is not a water resistant device.
