As part of the company's effort to broaden its reach, Google is introducing a new feature that will have a huge potential in helping people with certain disabilities. Google Voice Access is a feature that allows users to navigate around their Android smartphone by simply using their voice.
Voice Access is still in beta but the tech community is also excited about the feature's huge potential application. The feature allows users to move around their device's screen, jump to a different screen and open apps by simply using their voice.

Commands such as "Open Chrome" or "Go Home" are just some of the few voice commands. Moreover, Voice Access adds numbers right next to an app's icon and other objects on the screen. This makes it easier for users to navigate and open apps by simply uttering the number associated with a specific item.
According to CNet, Voice Access is just one of Google's effort to make its services more accessible to people with disabilities that hinder them from using hands or have difficulty seeing the screen. Apple has its own iPhone feature called VoiceOver which reads whatever the user taps on the screen.
In a statement posted on Google's official blog, the company said, "We recently launched Voice Access Beta, an app that allows people who have difficulty manipulating a touch screen due to paralysis, tremor, temporary injury or other reasons to control their Android devices by voice."
Although Voice Access is in beta phase, the program is apparently full and does not accept new sign ups. Voice Access' official page states that the feature is being tested and the program already has enough testers.
Prior to the announcement of Voice Access, Google updated its Docs service with a feature that supports full voice navigation as well as increased accessibility to Android N.
