Rumors Claim Nintendo NX Will Support 4K Resolution

Japanese consumer electronics company Nintendo announced on Nov. 20 that it is opening its official eBay store.

Nintendo's highly anticipated console Nintendo NX is rumored to feature a 4K resolution. If this rumor is true, the Nintendo NX will be the first console to support 4K resolution on video games.

The Sony PlayStation 4 support 4K resolution but only on videos and photos, not video games.

The Nintendo NX is also rumored to run on the x86 architecture, similar to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One consoles. The NX is believed to have native support for a second screen and will also backup all of its data to the cloud, according to Forbes.

The idea of the Nintendo NX running on 4K is not entirely new. While 4K is still a gold standard in the industry, its cost is also quite steep. Several platforms are already gearing up to support it.

The gaming community is slowly embracing the 4K standard, especially in the PC gaming platform. However, 4K support in the console platform is still nowhere to be seen and Nintendo is trying to fill this void with the NX.

Some tech analysts said that the NX is just a company codename for Nintendo's next console. This points to a possibility that the console might be marketed under a completely different name.

As for the specs of the Nintendo NX, there are rumors claiming that it might sport a graphics processing unit from AMD. There are also speculations that since it supports 4K resolution, it will have a significantly powerful processor compared to current generation consoles. For its memory, the console will sport at least 6GB of DDR4 memory.

It is speculated that Nintendo will unveil the console at the upcoming Electronics Entertainment Expo and will be released either at the end of the year or in early 2017.
