Bryant addressed his fans and concluded his statement with "Mamba out." He went on to say, "You know, I can't believe how fast 20 years went by. This is crazy. This is absolutely crazy." During the playtime, Bryant displayed his trademark offensive game style at its best and scored 23 points during the final quarter.

Bryant was also given a dream farewell by the crowd as he checked out being serenaded by the chants of "Kobe! Kobe! Kobe!" Kobe bids goodbye to competitive basketball with five championships under his belt. He also has the distinction of being the NBA's No. 3 all-time scorer. The Lakers spared no expense in honoring one of their best players. The team invited Kobe's former teammates for the final games and roped in Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers fame to play the national anthem during the game. There are rumors that courtside tickets for the event were sold for as high as $27,000.
