Thomas Callaway, also know as CeeLo Green, 39, was indicted last year on charges of possession and one count of furnishing a controlled substance. Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office stated in the prosecution that CeeLo had furnished the controlled substance to an individual without their knowledge or consent.
According to the appointed state prosecutors, Green "slipped" ecstasy into a 33 year-old woman while the two were out dinning at a Los Angeles restaurant in 2012. Mr. Green had pleaded not guilty to one felony count of giving narcotics to the woman without her approval or comprehension of the fact.
The alleged victim had initially filed a police report accusing Green of sexually assaulting her. However, the state prosecutor affirmed that there was insufficient evidence to charge Green with the rape of an intoxicated person.
Superior Court Judge Mark Young sentenced Mr. CeeLo Green to three years of formal state probation. Judge Young ordered Green to complete a total of 52 Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings, as well as, 360 hours of community service.
CeeLo's spokeswoman said in a statement, "CeeLo is sincerely satisfied that the District Attorney's office allow him the opportunity to "resolve this efficiently and appropriately" and "maintain his innocence". He is "pleased to put all of this behind him and continue to move forward".
Earlier this year, the Georgia native Green said he had decided to step down from his role as a judge on NBC's popular singing competition and television show "The Voice". CeeLo states that the reason for is that he did not want "to wear out his welcome". Others believe that, 'Quietly', it was a mutual decision to resign for the television network and CeeLo Green.
CeeLo says the he wants to maintain his innocence in the matter and "move forward with his life and career". Green says he will be working on new music to be released in the near future.
