Alibaba-backed Tmall.com organized a technology summit called "TES" on Monday, with the ambition of establishing a communication platform for consumer electronics enterprise.
The summit, with the theme centered on "making technology fashionable," is not an ordinary partnership-building event for Tmall's online shop owners but a way to introduce highly advanced gadgets in China, according to Yin Jing, Tmall 3C & Home Appliance Business Unit of Alibaba Group's president.

Yin explained the connotation of TES, where "T" reportedly means Tmall and technology, while "E" means ecosystem, elaboration, and education.
The event, which is the first of its kind, will discuss online distribution and trendy tech subjects during the summit's keynote speech and panel discussions.
The Worldwide Developers Conference by Apple and AWS re:Invent by Amazon are two of the existing summits Tmall has to learn and rival with.
"The number of online viewers of our event has surpassed that of the latest AWS re:Invent with 18,000 online broadcasting viewers," Ying said during his keynote speech.
Four fields of electronic products including virtual reality, home artificial intelligence, wearables and smart artificial intelligence that have been launched on the International Consumers Electronics Show (International CES) were announced to starting online sales on Tmall during the event. Among the hottest gadgets to be introduced include the HTC Vive.
The Consumer Technology Association, producer of International CES, revealed that along with Tmall, the two will organize the second CES Asia next month in Shanghai.
The CES Asia 2016, according to Yin, will initiate partnership between Alibaba and CTA. The two will strengthen their parnership by working together at the International CES 2017 in Las Vegas.
