Activision and Sony Pictures said that they will launch a new "Ghostbusters" video game. The upcoming title is strategically planned to coincide with the release of the upcoming "Ghostbusters" movie which is set to hit cinemas in July.
Based on the trailer, the game looks similar to the gameplay mechanics of "Diablo," a third person RPG. The game is set to be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC platform. The game is expected to hit digital outlets and retail stores.

It was hinted that a mobile game is also on its way called "Ghostbusters: Slime City."
In a statement acquired by Game Rant, Activision wrote, "Ghostbusters is a third-person action role-playing game positively charged for thrilling couch co-op with up to four players locally. As rookie Ghostbusters, players can level up their characters' gear and abilities by tackling objectives, defeating ghastly creatures and discovering hidden collectibles in Manhattan's most haunted haunts."
The game will allow players to pick four different Ghostbusters, each with their own play style, skills, and personalities. Each character has its unique skill set which can be used either offensively or defensively to support fellow teammates.
Reports about a new "Ghostbusters" game in the works surfaced about three months ago. While the franchise's film counterpart have been popular and well-received, such cannot be said for its video games.
The last "Ghostbusters" game that received good reviews was released back in 2009 for the previous generation of consoles.
According to Game Planet, the upcoming "Ghostbusters" game will not feature any of the original cast or any of the cast from the upcoming movie. This highlights the rumored plan of Sony Pictures to create an independent "Ghostbusters" universe.
