Bethesda Softworks has announced that it is releasing 'Doom' open beta on Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The open beta will run from April 15 to April 18.

The open beta will only let players play the multiplayer mode of 'Doom.' The game has been available for download in the past couple of days, but players cannot actually play it.

Among the contents included in the open beta are two maps and two multiplayer modes namely 'Team Deathmatch' and 'Warpath.' Weapons are limited to shotguns, plasma rifles, lightning guns, and of course, rocket launchers. The Gauss Cannon was also included, although only as a power weapon. The 'Doom' open beta also lets players play as a demon.

The 'Doom' open beta will kick start on April 15. It is available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam platforms.

'Doom' is the third reboot of the franchise that helped revolutionize the first-person shooter genre. The first game in the franchise was released in 1993 and over the course of several decades has been one of the most sought after title in the video game community.

Bethesda, developer of 'Doom,' promises that the third reboot of the series will take gamers back to the roots of the original game. Bethesda said that gamers will be treated to high octane action, blood, gore and all the features that have made the franchise what it is.

The upcoming 'Doom' title has a multiplayer mode, which was developed by Certain Affinity - a studio composed of ex-Bungie developers who have a wide range of experience working on first-person titles. Among the project under their belt are 'Halo' and 'Call of Duty: Ghosts.'

Aside from 'Doom,' the month of April will also see a few more games released on open beta. First is 'Overwatch,' whose open beta phase has already started. Next week, 'Gears of War 4' and 'Mirror's Edge' will also kick off their own respective open betas for gamers.
