The Suge Knight shooting which happened back in Los Angelese has prompted the New York Police Department (NYPD) to come up with a list called the 'Hip-Hop Squad,' in order to monitor who they have to watch out for. Chris Brown, French Montana, and Drake are some of the rappers named.

The surveillance by the NYPD's specialist unit dubbed as the "Hip-Hop Police" has stepped up. Night club appearances of Young Jeezy, Fat Joe, Fabolous, Wiz Khalifa, Lil wayne and Jim Jones are being monitored closely.
A source revealed that New York Club owners are participating in this surveillance as they are required to inform the Hip-Hop Police if and when any of the rappers in their list will be coming for a night of partying.
The source added that the Hip-Hop police does not want any Suge Knight incident to happen in New York. The NYPD specialists want to be there on the spot in case any trouble occurs.
Another insider revealed that the Hip-Hop cops are very well-known in the music industry. The insider said that they are in any show that is going on because their main job is to investigate any crime, and to prevent any violence regarding the hip-hop industry.
The insider added that these cops are plain-clothed and unrecognizable. Just recently, these cops were at Jennifer Lopez's show in The Bronx because they were tipped that Fat Joe and French Montana will be in the event.
Organizers of events welcome the hip-hop cops and they get to watch the event backstage so as to closely monitor ongoing beefs between rappers and performers. The cops advise that the performances between rappers who don't see eye-to-eye should be set ages apart.
The insider noted that having the Hip-hop police on hand is the best way to go. These cops are not there to harm any of the rappers but rather to make sure things run smoothly.
