Fans were excited to see a father-daughter moment in 'Star Wars: Episode 8.' However, based on a recent interview with director J.J. Abrams, the scene might just leave fans disappointed. Abrams mentioned that Rey's parents will not be featured in the upcoming movie.
Fans have long been speculating that Rey's (Daisy Ridley) father is Han Solo (Harrison Ford), but after 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens,' many started speculating that Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is.

However, Abrams said "Rey's parents are not in Episode VII. So I can't possibly say in this moment who they are. But I will say it is something that Rey thinks about, too." Because of this, Rey's parents could be new characters yet to be introduced. Abrams quickly backtracked his comments though and said that Rey will discover her parents in the movie and not that they may not already be in her world.
In the movie, it appears that Rey was left in Jakku and more details are said to emerge. A flashback scene also showed a link between Rey and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) but it was left unexplored. Finally, Rey will realize that she is a Force and will soon find Luke. While Luke did not speak in the movie, he and Rey seemed emotional upon their reunion. Luke will be part of the next Star Wars installment and it is rumored that he will play a part for Rey to learn more about her past. Film production has already started and the movie will be out in theaters in December 2017.
