Ken Chu Reveals Real Reason Behind Drastic Weight Gain

Former F4 member Ken Chu, who played Xi Men in Meteor Garden, a famous Taiwanese series, has looked heavier throughout the years as compared to his fellow F4 members.
During an appearance on a Chinese Variety Program, Ken finally revealed the reason behind his drastic weight gain, Asian Pop News reported.

Burning Calories is a mainland variety show that focuses on weight loss following the instructions of Han Geng, a fitness coach. The show provides challenges that pushes participants into losing weight through diet and exercise.
In one episode of Burning Calories, Ken stopped in the middle of a drill due to intense pain. The 37-year-old had to skip half of the show in order to recuperate.
Ken revealed that the reason for his drastic weight gain is due to fibromyalgia, a rare disease of the musculoskeletal system. Fibromyalgia is a condition where one suffers widespread muscle pain and fatigue. This condition served as a hindrance to Ken to exercise regularly as it is quite difficult to sustain a vigorous workout.
The public has continuously criticized Ken's drastic weight gain throughout the years, to the extent of mocking his heavier figure. Ken didn't know how to properly explain how he gained a lot of weight.
Ken revealed his condition during the recent episode of Burning Calories, stating that he suffered silently through the years and he has finally had enough.
The Taiwanese actor added that his main reason for joining Burning Calories was to seek the feeling of being healthy again.
Prior to joining Burning Calories, Ken's baseline weight was 90.2 kg. Two months later, after a strict diet regimen and religious exercise, Ken now weighs 80 kg and hopes to lose more weight in time for his wedding banquet with wife Han Wen Wen.
