Most players who loved side scrollers such as “Castlevania: Symphony of the Night,” “Super Metroid” and the “Megaman” (“Rockman” in Japan) series, among others, will have fun with “Shadow Complex Remastered” as it gets released for the PlayStation 4 and PC on May 3.

“Shadow Complex” is a 3D side-scroller that introduces simple gameplay in a very advanced gaming era. Formerly an Xbox 360 exclusive in 2009, it was first remastered and released for the Xbox One earlier this year and is now crossing platforms, moving on to the PS4 and the PC, reports PlayStation Lifestyle.
“Shadow Complex” revolves around the story of Jason Fleming, a man who, as he went on a hiking date with his girlfriend, stumbled upon a huge plot involving a radical left-wing militia. His girlfriend was taken, so basically he’s placed in the situation as an unwitting hero facing a giant advanced group of men. He starts off with nothing but a flashlight, but as the game progresses, he acquires more technologies that help him in his quest to save the girl while stopping the militia in the process.
In addition to containing the original game that received good responses from players and reviewers after its release years ago, the remastered version features updated graphical content as well as additional Master Challenges. There’s also the inclusion of ‘fun surprises’ such as melee take-down that makes stealing enemies’ weapons and using it against them more fun, says the game’s Creative Director Donald Mustard.
“Shadow Complex Remastered” promises 10+ hours of non-linear gameplay, which can be extended depending on your personal motivations, says IGN: either to reach a high level, break the game’s sequence and try to finish the game earlier by locating items and weapons earlier than expected, or simply enjoy it again and again.
“Shadow Complex Remastered” releases for the PlayStation 4 and PC on May 3. Pricing is still to be announced.
