Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCarpio gave an inspiring speech before world leaders at the United Nations on Friday during the signing of the Paris climate change agreement.
The Revenant star called leaders as the "last best hope" to save the planet from the harmful consequences of global warming. He also encouraged them to leave fossil fuels "in the ground where they belong."

DiCaprio said that the agreement does not end on merely signing it, as it takes real life implementations.
"We can congratulate each other today, but it will mean absolutely nothing if you return to your countries and don't take action to implement the deal," he said.
Leonardo, who was appointed as a UN Messenger of the Peace in 2014, also challenged countries to excel more than what they have signed for.
"My friends, look at the delegates around you, it is time to ask each other, which side of history will you be on?"
In 2015, scientists recorded the hottest temperature Earth has experienced, and average temperatures climbed by nearly 1 degree Celcius. Before the Paris agreement, studies reveal that the initial set of targets nations committed to did not match the accord's long-term aim to keep global warming below 2 degrees Celcius.
"No more talks, no more excuses, no more 10-year studies," DiCaprio pointed. "The world is now watching. You will either be lauded by future generations or vilified by them."
"You are the last, best hope of Earth. We ask you to protect it. Or we and all living things we cherish, are history."
Meanwhile, both China and the United States have committed to ratifying the agreement as soon as this year. The Paris climate change deal needs to be ratified by at least 55 countries to represent 55 percent of the global carbon emissions.
