Rumors have emerged that AS Roma is eyeing Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao in the summer but the Colombian's €7 million wage demand is said to be "putting off" the Italian Serie A giants.

Football Italia reported that I Giallorossi is currently "in talks" with the representatives of the 30-year-old Monaco-owned striker, who is on loan to the Blues this season, but are turned off by his reported €7 million a year salary demand.

Aside from the wage dispute, another area of concern for the two parties is that Falcao does not have a non-EU passport at the moment, the report says, although it is a lesser issue than the former.

Roma is said to be planning to sell its resident striker Edin Dzeko, particularly to the Chinese Super League, this summer after not meeting the expectations of current head coach Luciano Spalletti.

Caught Offside indicated that one of the targets of the 57-year-old Italian manager is Falcao, who had been off his top form ever since "suffering a serious knee injury in 2014".

Falcao had a disappointing 2014-2015 season with Manchester United, scoring only four goals in 26 domestic league appearances. This season, he managed to produce a single goal in only 10 Premier League games.

The 5-foot-10 Santa Marta, Colombia native had his best years with Atletico Madrid from 2011 to 2013, scoring 70 goals in 91 appearances in all competitions during two seasons for the La Liga club before he was acquired by Monaco.

Speculations abound that Falcao's loan spell with Chelsea will not be made permanent at season's end and so he will be available for willing takers in the summer.

Roma is allegedly negotiating for Falcao to accept a smaller wage than his current request as he "hasn't proved his fitness all season, coupled with the fact that he hasn't been at his prolific best since the 2012/13 season with Atletico Madrid".

Falcao was once the most feared striker in all of Europe, but he has not brought that kind of reputation along with him during his stints in the Premier League.

The report noted, though, that "If he is able to stay fit and avoid injuries, then a fresh start in a different league could be exactly what he needs at this stage of his career".
