Delayed flights are always a cause of irritation for airline passengers, more so if the passenger is on a tight schedule – but is this enough reason for passengers to lash out on an airline’s ground workers?

Three irate passengers, one woman and two men, were reportedly detained for causing a violent mess inside the airport in Changsha in Hunan province, reports NetEase. These people reportedly treated some ground workers violently because their flight was delayed.

The Capital Airlines flight out of Changsha was delayed because of bad weather conditions Sunday. Angered, the passengers requested to talk to an airline representative, but were sadly denied their request.

Now irritated at both the flight delay and the denied request, the angry passengers went on to humiliate the ground worker on the desk. At about 8:30 p.m. one woman and two men started shouting towards the worker, and then sent a lunch box flying towards her.

A video that captured the incident showed the worker avoiding the lunchbox. However, one of the passengers pushed her back in, which caused her to be hit by some more food items thrown towards her. Later, one of the angry passengers slapped another airline employee.

Cause for Concern

Incidents such as these has prompted China’s central government to create a blacklist that included the names of passengers who were reported to have dangerous and disruptive behaviors, reports Shanghai Daily. This list is made public, and public services such as hotels, airlines and other travel services can use the list as a means to refuse any client who shows some misdemeanor.

Netizens who saw the videos were reportedly appalled at the incident, and asked that these passengers be included in the national blacklist, reports the Shanghaiist. Police have detained the three passengers.
