Following their season opening win over Shijiazhuang Ever Bright in March, Liaoning has been winless in their last five assignments including two consecutive draws in their last two matches. With that, they are now at the 12th spot of the league table, tied on points with Tianjin Teda.
The Northeast Tigers settled to a goalless draw with capital city squad Beijing Guoan FC at the Workers' Stadium in Beijing in their most recent CSL game last Saturday, as reported by CCTV.
With the draw, head coach Ma Lin's boys kept the Imperial Guards from earning their first home win of the season, even as they cleared up for a share of a point in the overall standings.
It was also the first clean sheet of Liaoning goalkeeper Shi Xiaotian since the Ever Bright victory after giving up 10 goals in their previous four fixtures.
Meanwhile, Hebei China Fortune suffered their first loss of the season in the hands of contending team Shanghai Greenland Shenhua FC, 2-0, at the Hongkou Stadium in Shanghai last Sunday, as per Soccerway.
An own goal from Turkish defender Ersan Gulum opened the scoring at the seventh minute of the match and was immediately followed up by a goal from Shenhua team captain Giovanni Moreno three minutes later to give the hosts a two-point lead early.
Manager Li Tie's side was not able to respond with any goals for the rest of the way as they dropped their first game in five outings to land at the sixth spot of the current league table.
The predicted result is a tough 1-0 win for Hebei China Fortune.
