Good news is that, after airing the first episode of "Game of Thrones" season 6, there have been rumors spreading the Internet that Martin's "The Winds of Winter" will finally see the light of day on May.

It is said that Martin initially planned to release the book prior "Game of Thrones" season 6 episode 1, wherein he said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that it is very important to him to release the book prior airing of the sixth season of "GoT"; however, since it didn't materialize, fans may expect that the release date of "The Winds of Winter" will take place as early as next month.

Contradicting rumors, however, indicates that even Martin turned down numerous projects such as convention appearances and interviews just to focus on writing "The Winds of Winter," he is said to be struggling on making the book. This led to fans speculate that the TV adaptation "Game of Thrones" season 6 may somehow spoil the unpublished book.

Nevertheless, fans would just need to take the information lightly, as the author would need to confirm or deny the said rumors first.
