China's tallest skyscraper has opened its basement and annex to the public for trial operations, local authorities revealed on Wednesday.

Standing at 35 meters tall, the five-story, gold-painted annex of Shanghai Tower comes with conference rooms, restaurants, wedding and banquet halls, and an open-air garden. According to China Daily, one hall spans 1,000 square meters, while the other extends twice the size of the first one. Both can be subdivided into separate small rooms.

The basement level was also opened for guests.

Other parts of the Shanghai Tower is set to be unveiled later this year. Based on the floor plan, visitors can expect more commercial spaces, retail stores, public viewing areas, and hotels, to name a few.

Aside from grabbing the title of China's tallest building, it also broke the record for having the fastest lifts in the world. Elevators could reportedly shoot visitors up to the 119th floor in less than a minute. It boasts a speed of 18 meters per second, surpassing the current holder Taipei 101 with 16.83 meters per second.

Although it sounds like a total roller coaster ride, the Liberation Daily Newspaper reported that "Even a coin can stand on its edge steadily inside the running lifts."

Shanghai Tower was designed and built by state-owned Shanghai Construction Group and California, USA-based Gensler. The 632-meter skyscraper stands above Luijazui Central Business District in Pudong, Shanghai. It took the contractors more than seven years to accomplish the building's exterior and is estimated to be worth about 16 billion yuan ($2.5 billion).
