Based on Blizzard's statement, the company seems to be seriously considering the possibility of giving fans the option to play on the official 'World of Warcraft; on vanilla servers. 'World of Warcraft' executive producer J. Allen Brack said that he has been closely following discussions among gamers about Nostalrius.

In a statement, Brack said, "Our silence on this subject definitely doesn't reflect out level of engagement and passion around this topic. We hear you. Many of us across Blizzard and the WoW Dev team have been passionate players ever since classic WoW. In fact, I personally work at Blizzard because of my love for classic WoW."

Brack revealed that Blizzard requested a cease and desist order to close the Nostalrius server in order to protect the company's property. The Nostalrius server reportedly had around 800,000 accounts at the time it was forcibly closed.

Brack said that Blizzard has been in contact with the developers of the Nostalrius server. However, the details of their interaction was not disclosed.

Blizzard's move to forcibly close the 'World of Warcraft' Nostalrius server has sparked a debate in the gaming community. While some gamers have commended Blizzard for protecting its property, others are not happy with the company's decision.

Meanwhile, some gamers are calling for a release of the classic version of 'World of Warcraft,'  especially the version released before the "Cataclysm" expansion. Some gamers are hoping that Blizzard will work alongside Nostalrius to develop and support an old school version of 'World of Warcraft.'

'World of Warcraft' will celebrate its 12th anniversary in November. Ahead of the anniversary, Blizzard will release a new expansion for the game dubbed "Legion" in August.
