Alicia Vikander's butt-kicking skills will soon be unveiled, as she is now reported to star in the Tomb Raider Reboot as Lara Croft, which originally starred Angelina Jolie.

The Tomb Raider Reboot, will be produced by MGM and Warner Bros. and directed by Roar Uthaug. It will be a back-story, which will bring viewers back to the young Lara Croft's first adventure.

The first Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movie was released way back in 2001 and was based on the 1996 action-adventure video game developed by Core Design and published Eidos Interactive. A sequel was released in 2003, titled, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Both films starred Jolie.

MGM, who has the rights to the film, has yet to officially release a statement regarding Vikander's portrayal of Lara Croft. Furthermore, the 27-year old Academy Award winner and her agent were  also been mum regarding the news.

Vikander was commended for her portrayal of Gerda Wegener in The Danish Girl. She also received critical acclaim for her role as an AI in the sci-fi psychological thriller movie, Ex Machina.

Vikander was first a dancer, who studied at the Royal Swedish Ballet School. Unfortunately, she had an injury that prohibited her from pursuing a dance career. She then tried her hand at acting, appearing in Swedish short films.

Eventually, she landed breakout roles, some of which are the 2012 historical romance film Anna Karenina, in which she portrayed Princess Ekaterina and the World War I drama, Testament of Youth, in which she plays the lead.

2016 proves to be a very good year for the gorgeous Vikander, who just recently wrapped up filming for "Jason Bourne" and "The Light Between Oceans." She is currently filming for the American-French-Spanish romantic thriller, Submergence.
