Game of Thrones fans have been anxiously waiting for The Winds of Winter, the sixth book in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Reports suggest that the book might be released in early 2017 and may shed light on who Jon Snow's parents really are.

There are conflicting theories currently circulating regarding the real parents of Jon Snow. Viewers and readers have been made to believe that Jon Snow is the son of Ned Stark. However, Angel Fire believes that his real parents are Eddard Stark and Ashara Dayne.

On the other hand, there are those who believe that he is the son of Lyanna Stark, Ned's sister, and Rhaegar Targaryen. But these conflicting theories will finally be put to rest once "The Winds of Winter" is released, as it will reportedly reveal the family lineage of Jon Snow.

Moreover, Parent Herald reported on a tweet of author George R.R. Martin, which teased fans about Jon Snow's parents. He apparently tweeted, "I'll give you a little hint: Jon's parents' names rhyme with "Schmobert Schmaratheon" and "Schmatelyn Schmark." However, as of this writing, the post has already been taken down.

Obviously, the names that rhyme are Robert Baratheon and Catelyn Stark, however, some find that hard to believe given the fact that Catelyn hates Jon Snow and that Robert Baratheon asked Ned who Jon Snow's real mother is. So the tweet might simply be a diversion.

Hopefully, fans will get the answers they need when the book comes out. It is no secret that Martin is having a writer's block, thus the reason why the book has been pushed back to late 2016 or early 2017.

Meanwhile, get your "Game of Thrones" fix by watching the premiere episode of season 6, "The Red Woman" on April 24, 2016.
