Australian businessman Craig Wright has publicly claimed to be behind the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, the brain behind the famous digital currency Bitcoin.
Wright admitted in a blog post on Monday, showing evidence that he is who he claims to be. His admission was also supported by the core development team and prominent members of the Bitcoin community, according to the BBC.

Wright revealed his identity to three news agencies, namely the BBC, the Economist, and GQ. In an interview with the BBC, Wright showed digitally signed messages through cryptographic keys linked to the same bitcoin blocks Nakamoto allegedly used to send Hal Finney, another developer, the first ever bitcoin transaction in 2009.
"I was the main part of it, but other people helped me," he told the BBC. "These are the blocks used to send 10 bitcoins to Hal Finney in January [2009] as the first bitcoin transaction."
As to why he is now spilling the beans, Wright said in a statement "I care so passionately about my work, and also to dispel negative myths and fears about bitcoin."
"I cannot allow the misinformation that has been spread to impact the future of bitcoin and the blockchain," he added.
Wright said he plans to provide hints to allow others to cryptographically verify his identity.
Right after he officially went public, one of the founding directors of Bitcoin Foundation Jon Matonis supported his claim, saying Wright "had the opportunity to review the relevant data along three distinct lines: cryptographic, social, and technical."
"It is my firm believe that Craig Wright satisfies all three categories," Matonis said.
Even Gavin Andresen, Bitcoin Foundation's chief scientist, also backed his claim, writing "I believe Craig Steven Wright is the person who invented Bitcoin."
However, not everyone is convinced. In fact, some have challenged Wright to provide more technical evidence of his identity.
If indeed Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto, this will then end years of speculations about the developer of the brilliant digital cash system.
