John Romero and Adrian Carmack, the minds behind the revolutionary 'Doom' video game, have announced that the Kickstarter campaign for their latest first-person shooter project 'Blackroom' will be put on hold temporarily. The duo explained that the campaign will be on hold until the team can create a playable demo to present to its supporters.

In a statement posted on the official 'Blackroom' Kickstarter page, the developers wrote, "We're pressing 'PAUSE' on the fundraising campaign for Blackroom to complete this gameplay demo. Simply put, this will take more time than the Kickstarter has left, so we've decided to suspend the campaign and launch a new one when the gameplay demo is ready."
The team behind 'Blackroom' later added that they believe the decision to put the project on hold is the right choice. The team said that they are currently working on a playable demo that will highlight the game's gameplay mechanics, graphics, as well as other innovative features. All these elements put together will make 'Blackroom' unique, the team claims.
During its short run, the 'Blackroom' campaign was able to raise $131,052 out of its $700,000 original goal. The money was raised by more than two thousand backers.
The 'Blackroom' funding campaign was launched on April 25.
Along with the latest announcement, Romero teased fans with a handful of concept art and said that a new staff was added to the development team. The new staff was simply described as "a metal composer." The new staff was later revealed to be George Lynch.
Prior to the stoppage of the funding effort, the 'Blackroo' Kickstarter campaign was supposed to last until May 28. According to VG24/7, Romero estimates that the demo for the game will be ready within the next two months. Once the demo is released, the Kickstarter campaign will be launched once again.
