Recent rumors have emerged that the Los Angeles Lakers might consider trading young point guard D'Angelo Russell and a future draft pick to the Chicago Bulls for its primed shooting guard Jimmy Butler as the team is said to be in dire need of top veteran players in its fold.

Lakers Nation reported that the Hollywood squad is planning to trade some of their young stars in order to acquire a proven veteran that can lead the team moving forward now that Kobe Bryant is gone.

General Manager Mitch Kupchak said to have stressed that it may take "ten or fifteen years" to completely rebuild through draft picks and so team officials want to do it via free-agency or trades to make it much faster.

The report mentioned that the team "might choose instead to part with one or more of their current young players" of Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr., Anthony Brown, and Tarik Black than to trade their top pick this June, if they will be able to keep it.

It also said that Russell and Clarkson seemed redundant on the court last season, which means any one of the two could be traded for the right deal this summer.

Fansided postulated that one of the likely scenarios will be a Butler-Russell trade between the Bulls and Lakers with LA adding a pick or two to entice Chicago.

The Bulls are reportedly planning a complete overhaul of their roster after being eliminated in this year's playoffs and there is no one in the team's current lineup that is more trade-worthy than Butler.

Bulls VP John Paxson said that the team needs "to make some changes" after Chicago's final regular season game. General Manager Gar Forman supported him by saying that "John made it pretty clear we've got to take a look at everything" and that the Bulls should "explore all options and I don't think there's anything that's off the table when you have a disappointing year like this".

While the two senior Bulls officials are not specifying anything, there is always the possibility of Butler being shipped if they feel a more beneficial option is open.
