With the highly-successful run of "Descendants of the Sun," it surely gets a sequel. However, its lead actor, Song Joong-Kyi was rumored to leave showbusiness.
In an interview with Soompi, KBS drama department head Jung Sung Ho revealed that coming up with a sequel is their way of repaying the fans for their undeniable support.

"We want to repay viewers with the next 'Descendants of the Sun,'" Jung said. "We are grateful to viewers, overseas fans, staff, and actors. The drama was more than a domestic syndrome; it established a third wave of Hallyu."
"KBS will strive to produce a second 'Descendants of the Sun' to meet expectations and repay viewers," he added. "We plan to launch a 2017 'Descendants of the Sun' project for broadcast in 2017 through negotiations with the cast and production team."
As with the plot for the upcoming project, Jung had this to say, "We have to keep discussing whether it will be a story of a soldier or not. 'Descendants of the Sun' was this year's top drama and greatly contributed to the Hallyu wave, and we mean that we wish to work on a project that will follow it closely."
While a second season of the widely-popular show seems unstoppable anymore, a separate report made rounds claiming that the 30-year-old actor portraying the role of Yoo Si-jin, a captain of South Korean Special Forces unit, has hinted about the possibility of leaving the limelight.
According to GameNGuide, Song Jooing-kyi felt that he is losing his privacy because of the popularity that he has right now.
It was further claimed that several fans have speculated that after "earning billions of won," he might opt to take a break and live away from the "scrutinizing eye of the public."
Do you thing the actor will no longer be part of the "Descendants of the Sun" sequel?
