5 Seconds of Summer's bassist Calum Hood is currently embroiled in a scandal after a video of the musician showing off his genitals was leaked online by one of his fans.

The video of the 18-year old bassist for the Australian band where his private part was deliberately shown has been leaked the previous week on Thursday and has gotten viral very quickly.

Calum Hood was said to have flashed his genitals through a video on an application called Snapchat wherein photos and videos are immediately deleted after a few seconds for privacy matters. However, the fan who got a hold of the video uploaded it online for the world to see, even captioning it "CALUMS D*** I'M SCREAMING."

In the five-second video, Calum Hood was seen taking his clothes off. His face wasn't shown, however, he didn't deny that it was indeed him and he even turned to twitter, saying, "Least ya know what it looks like now."

The bassist for 5 Seconds of Summer has also admitted that posting a video of his private parts wasn't such a good idea. The 18-year old musician has allegedly learned his lesson, also tweeting, "I'm still just a teenage kid learning from mistakes :)."

The bassist faced criticism for sending such a graphic video to his fan, but he was also defended by others saying that the musician could have easily gotten his way around it by claiming that it wasn't his video which the fans would have believed anyway. However, Calum Hood chose to take the responsibility and admitted that it was him.

Some people saw his subsequent course of actions as a sign of maturity, according to posts on Twitter.

On the one hand, Calum Hood's leaked video is just another reminder of how unsafe a place the web is especially for issues that involve such matters. There had been findings that photos and videos in applications such as Snapchat aren't really being deleted just as it claims to and how the public assumes it.

Snapchat has also stated in its blog that matters as such shouldn't be an issue if only users are careful and would stop posting sensitive images of themselves.
