Honda Manufacturing of Alabama has announced that its assembly line is once again in motion to build the upcoming 2017 Honda Ridgeline. The announcement was seen by many auto experts as the company's second crack at the highly lucrative American truck market.

The plant, which located in Lincoln, Alabama, will formally start production on Thursday, May 5. American customers first set their eyes on the 2017 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck during the Super Bowl. Honda spent a large sum of money to air a commercial about the vehicle during the half time show.

The same commercial was uploaded on video-sharing site YouTube and, as of this writing, it has already amassed more than 7.7 million views. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline is a revamped version of the original Ridgeline, which was released about a decade ago.

In terms of engine specs, the 2017 Ridgeline sports a 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 engine. The pickup truck is available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive variants. The all-wheel drive variant sports the new terrain-management system with active torque vectoring which helps to maximize traction in various driving modes like sand, mud and snow.

In terms of mileage, the front-wheel drive variant scores 19 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg combined. The all-wheel drive variant scores 18 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg combined. Many auto analysts say that the 2017 Honda Ridgeline will easily beat most of its competitors once it rolls out.

Several analysts predict that once the 2017 Honda Ridgeline hits the road, it will go head to head with the Chevrolet Colorado, the Toyota Tacoma, and the Nissan Frontier. Not much is known about Honda's most talked about pickup truck, but customers are eagerly waiting for it to hit the market.
