"We couldn't be more proud to bring The Angry Birds Movie to China as well as to the rest of the world," Tomi Korpinen, Rovio's president said. "It speaks very strongly to the continued popularity of the Angry Birds global brand and the quality and appeal of The Angry Birds Movie."

Featuring the voices of Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, and Danny McBride, this is the first-ever film produced by the company.

"We are very pleased to have secured a release slot and a great date for May 20th," Korpinen said, highlighting the rigid requirements that producers have to comply with to get China's approval since the country only releases 34 foreign films every year.

"It was so rewarding to go through the importing process with the movie and now we are ready for the whole country to see it," Li Yi, 1905 Pictures' general manager, said. "It's our great honor to work with Rovio to make this happen and with the existing fan base of the game, we hope to achieve great box office results."

According to Hollywood Reporter, the 3D animated film directed by Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis takes place on a peaceful paradise inhabited by happy, flightless birds. The three heroes, on the other hand, namely the temper-headed Red (Sudeikis), speedy Chuck (Gad) and the volatile bomb (McBride), are outsiders.

After the island is invaded by green piggies, the three outcasts come to the rescue and discover for themselves what fishy business the pigs are planning.
