Microsoft has reiterated its plans to end its free Windows 10 upgrade offer. According to the company, after July 29, the upgrade will cost $119.
Microsoft's latest operating system was released as a free upgrade for the users on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 machines.
Microsoft announced that the new OS is now installed on 300 million machines around the world, making it the fastest adopted version of Windows. The company has set a target of getting one billion users by 2018. The Windows 10 OS can be used on Xbox One game consoles and mobile phones apart from personal computers and tablets.

Despite a large number of installations, the Windows 10 upgrade has been losing steam gradually. The growth rate has slowed down over the past eight months.
There are speculations that Microsoft may be pulling the plug on the free upgrade due to it's relationship with its Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). Microsoft's decision to end the free upgrade will push the users to either buy the new OS or a new machine with Windows 10 pre-installed on it.
Microsoft is attempting to create awareness about the upcoming deadline. "Time is running out," said Yusuf Mehdi, head of Microsoft's Windows and devices marketing efforts. "The free upgrade offer will end on July 29th and we want to make sure you don't miss out."
July 29th marks one year since Microsoft rolled out the free upgrade.
Users, who choose to upgrade now will get a fully updated OS, including the upcoming Anniversary Update, which features a redesigned start menu and advanced handwriting recognition software.
