Following the murder of a female passenger that was riding a car driven by one of its registered drivers, Chinese car-hailing company Didi Chuxing has suspended more than 8,000 drivers on the grounds of failed standards, a news website reports.
Didi Chuxing, formerly Didi Kuaidi, suspended thousands of its drivers after discovering that all of them failed to meet the company's standard of services, reports Thepaper.cn. The drivers are now waiting for their performance review to be released.

The company's decision to suspend the drivers has been made prior to the release of China's first national law that will regulate the car-hailing services industry. This law will be implemented this month, reports The Beijing News.
Poor Performance
Earlier reports have shown that some drivers for car-hailing service companies in China have been performing poorly, or even destructively. Last week, one driver for Didi admitted to robbing and killing a 24-year-old female passenger, dumping the victim's body in a remote area in Shenzhen.
In April, drivers for car-hailing companies were also caught posting photos of unsuspecting passengers. Earlier in March, thousands of car-hailing company drivers were found to have criminal records. Some of these are criminal offences, while some are for drug abuse.
Growing Fame
Despite the current issues plaguing the car-hailing services industry in China, Didi is still growing in terms of finance and fame. According to Forbes, Didi is still able to raise $2 billion from its backers, at a higher valuation of $25 billion compared to a previous $16 billion earlier this year.
Didi's President, Jean Liu, is also elected as one of the torchbearers for the 2016 Olympics that will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, according to a press release. She became one of the official Olympic Torchbearers based on the results of a popular vote organized by beverage company Coca-Cola. She will be representing China in carrying the flame through the Iguacu route.
