Rumors are out that Brazilian defender Marquinhos is currently "unhappy" playing for Paris Saint-Germain and that he has also begun expressing his desire to join La Liga giants FC Barcelona this summer.

Mirror reported that the 21-year-old Brazil international "is sick of being played out of position" in head coach Laurent Blanc's rotation and will allegedly "ask the Ligue 1 champions to leave this summer" in favor of the Catalonia giants.

The report also noted that Marquinhos has been Barça's "top target" as the defending Spanish top flight champions are in an ongoing search for "a top young player that can strengthen their backline" moving forward.

Two of Marquinhos' Brazil national team teammates, Thiago Silva and David Luiz, form the core of PSG's current backline and so the 6-foot center back felt that he is being kept at the sidelines or being played out of position as a right back whenever he was used by Blanc.

Marquinhos was able to appear in 24 out of the 36 games of PSG in the French domestic first division competitions this season although he was coming off the bench in most of them.

Barcelona's sporting director, Robert Fernandez, is said to be "aware" of the São Paulo, Brazil native's appeal to Les Parisiens for him to be sold to Barça in the summer, but said that the La Liga giants "will not force the issue with PSG".

While the Blaugrana are also on high alert about the Paris residents' desire to snag Brazil captain Neymar from their ranks this summer, Barça is allegedly careful about inflaming "institutional relations" between them and PSG so they do not want to force the issue on Marquinhos by making any offers, but would like for the Brazilian to initiate the move himself.

Meanwhile, Caught Offside indicated that Marquinhos is keen on doing "all he can to secure" a Barcelona transfer at season's end.

The Brazilian defender is said to be "determined to leave the French side" because "his heart (is) set on Barcelona".
