Recent reports have emerged that Chelsea legend John Terry expressed his desire to stay at the Stamford Bridge next term as the 2015-2016 English Premier League season heads into its final matchday of competitions.

Metro reported that the 35-year-old England national team captain "has made a desperate plea to Antonio Conte so that he can stay at Chelsea next season" after he was banned playing in the Blues' two remaining games this season.

Terry was sent off during injury time of Chelsea's 2-3 loss to Sunderland last Saturday and so he will not be able to play against Liverpool this Wednesday and versus newly-crowned champions Leicester City on Sunday, according to the report.

This scenario pushed Terry to make a "desperate plea" to incoming head coach Conte as the English center back seems to be not ready yet to play his final game for the Stamford Bridge residents.

"I still want to play for a couple of years, hopefully that's at Chelsea," said Terry. "I'm a Chelsea player and that has been my club since the age of 14. I love Chelsea."

The 6-foot-2 Barking, London native has been with the Blues in his whole senior career, except for a short on loan spell of six games with Nottingham Forest in 2000. In 18 seasons with the Pensioners, Terry had played 703 games for the club and had scored 66 times mainly as the team's premier defender.

Caught Offside noted that with Terry's deal set to expire this summer and no extension in sight for the club legend, there is the possibility of him leaving virtually the only team he had professionally.

There were offers for him to play in China and the Middle East, but one of the options he likes is a switch to the United States' Major League Soccer (MLS).

However, because MLS clubs have told Terry through negotiations with his representatives that he is not seen as a "designated player" material, a rule that allows MLS teams to sign players that would be counted outside the salary cap, he is not so enthused to play in the States anymore.

Players who are not in the designated player status in the MLS receive only £5,000 ($7,200) per week of wages, which is far below than the £100,000 ($144,400) he receives with Chelsea this year.
