Google has released an iOS keyboard and it is called Gboard with the power of search build into it.

Gboard is the keyboard app for Apple devices that offers swipe-based typing, access to gifs, and a slew of other staple keyboard functions that now include emojis and word predictions.

The most interesting feature of this keyboard is its direct integration with Google’s services. By tapping the included “G” icon, users will be able to immediately search Google without exiting the keyboard and launching a browser or the Google app. It will let the users to easily search for things like flight times, news articles, restaurant and business listings, weather and more right from the keyboard, then just tap to paste that information into the chat.

The information from the search immediately appears in the conversation, email, notepad and alike. It is pasted as hyperlinked text so users can do things like pull up the listing in Google Maps, phone a business or perform a web search for the item in question, among other things.

Users can al tap the “Paste” button from the iOS’s “Edit” menu in order to copy the actual card. It presents an attractive format compared to hyperlinked text, but it includes details like address, current time or any relevant data of the searched subject.

“We wanted to bring the best of Google to Gboard, so you’ll see Maps, Translate, image and video search, News and others. Initially, Gboard will not surface any information specific to you,” says Rajan Patel, the head of the product team that developed Gboard.

Users must also know that since this is Google’s keyboard, Google’s search results will promote Google’s services. Locations will be searched in Google Maps instead of Apple Maps, and music is opened in YouTube instead of iTunes. At the same time, the results are tied to the Web because the keyboard is yet to be integrated into other popular apps.

The new app is available in English only and is a free download on the iTunes App Store. More languages will arrive in the future.
