Pierce, a staunch supporter former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, physically assaulted a Bernie Sanders' backer following a heated debate in the lobby of the Atlanta hotel at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Pierce, who recently portrayed the role of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in HBO's Confirmation, allegedly got angry after the woman declared her support for the Vermont senator, which led to him grabbing her hair and hitting her on the head before pushing her boyfriend.
The couple then headed to their hotel room and called hotel security, who followed protocol and alerted the Atlanta police, according to a source.
The cops did not reveal any further details about the incident or the arrest but the police officers who arrived at the scene had no knowledge of Pierce's celebrity status at the time, according to an official statement by the APD.
"The incident did not rise to anything significant so no special notification was made," Atlanta police spokesman Donald Hannah said in the statement. "It was treated like any other arrest a patrol officer conducts."
