Henry Cavill is back on the market! The 33-year-old Batman v Superman actor and his 19-year-old girlfriend, Tara King, have broken up after dating for less than a year.

"Henry and Tara have split - it is official. Henry said the two of them could stay friends and he even invited her to his recent birthday party, which she did go to, a source told The Sun. "But their relationship is over."

"It has been very difficult for Tara, who has been saying he was the love of her life," the source added.

Cavill and King, who is a student at London's Bristol University first met at the popular nightspot Mihiki in 2015 and went public with their relationship after being spotted at a rugby match later that year.

Despite some criticising Henry for dating such a girl much younger than he is, the couple remained strong and Tara was his date at the Vanity Fair Oscars party in February and he even took her home to Jersey to meet his parents.

The actor faced a lot of criticism for dating a girl 14 years younger than him but unfazed by the haters, the couple had a good relationship going and Cavill also made his red carpet debut with his teenage ladylove at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in February.

The loved-up couple also attended the London premiere of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in March together and Cavill also took her to Jersey to meet his parents.

The break-up comes two months after Henry gushed about his girlfriend in an interview.

"She protects me and is protective of me when I am having a hard time," he told The Mirror. "She's there when I need looking after and the world is a little too heavy...Tara allows me to be me and doesn't have a problem with that."
