Reports are out that English Premier League giants Manchester United are the favorites to snag Zlatan Ibrahimović as the Swedish striker reaches the end of his contract with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

The 34-year-old Sweden team captain's tenure at Parc des Princes is coming to an end this summer and rumors abound that he will not be given a contract extension moving forward.

Les Rouge-et-Bleu is said to be looking forward to signing other big-name football superstars such as Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo or Barcelona's Neymar during the summer transfer window and so they cannot afford two highly-paid players in their lineup next season. Perhaps selling Ibrahimović could compensate for the acquisition of any of the two superstars in the offseason.

With that, emerging as the favorite to buy the 6-foot-5 goalscorer is Man United, who could miss the Champions League tournament next season if they fail to win against AFC Bournemouth in their re-scheduled season finale on Tuesday.

The Telegraph reported that the Malmö, Sweden native is open to joining the Old Trafford residents as he "wants a crack at playing in the Premier League and United are prepared to meet his demands".

Ibrahimović is allegedly requiring a weekly wage of £300,000 after tax and PSG is not agreeable to it any longer. It is also not clear whether the Red Devils have approved the demand, which would actually make the Swede the highest-paid player in the English top flight if it would push through.

The report mentioned that Ibrahimović could work well with rumored incoming United manager Jose Mourinho as the two had been together with Inter Milan before, winning the Italian Serie A title during the 2008-2009 season in the process.

Caught Offside noted that United could also snag Ibrahimović on a free transfer this summer because of he will be a free agent, yet still the humongous wage demand is something that will make the English club contemplate.
