Texas Governor Rick Perry stated that the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) might be using the Texas-Mexico border to gain access to the United States, but another terrorism expert disagreed during a separate interview with KXAN T.V.

During a public appearance on what's supposed to be a migration discussion, Perry talked mostly about terrorism and the threats it poses to the United States.

Perry pressed the Obama administration to have all its options open and that the limited air strikes against ISIS the president ordered are not sufficient.

He ended his speech saying that protecting the border is Obama's responsibility, but the governor believes the border is not being secured well. He stood firm with his statement saying that it is very possible that not only ISIS militants have crossed the border, but also other terrorists.

Perry is known to be one of the notable authorities who have been commenting on security threats imposed by terrorists.

The governor, who is said to be eyeing the 2016 presidential elections, described the ISIS issue as one of the most serious threats to the United States. He also talked about the beheading of the American journalist, James Foley.

However, Fred Burton, the Vice President of intelligence for Stratfor, an Austin-based firm that analyzes all possible security threats worldwide, disagreed with Perry. He said in a statement that they have not seen evidence of ISIS militants anywhere in the border.

Burton added that when you start looking at the issue from a border perspective, addressed towards Perry, it should be seen in the context of "special interest aliens". These aliens are individuals from nation-states such as Pakistan and Afghanistan, he explains.

With these aliens, Burton noted that two possible concerns would be drawn. First is to question "who are these people" referring to those entering the border. Second is to question the probability of the individuals crossing the border to carry a terrorist attack against the U.S.

Burton noted that the ISIS issue was something great to talk about and it has geared towards "ambitious" plans. However, these plans are not always capable of being operational.

Burton ended his statement saying that his sources had given him enough information to assure that no militants have crossed the border and that ISIS would never defeat the forces of U.S. He noted that 'counterterrorism' mission would still be the best way to defuse the ISIS militants.

During the Labor Day weekend, two gates located at El Paso have been shut down due to security reasons. According to a U.S. Army spokesperson, the closure was due to the recent internal security assessments from the Defense Department.
