Garmin has taken the wraps off of its latest smart wearable device, the Vivosmart HR+. The fitness tracker is equipped with a built-in GPS sensor which the company claims provides more accurate pace tracking system and distance monitor.

Garmin has been quite busy releasing new smart wearable devices in recent weeks. The company unveiled the Approach X40, then the Vivomove, and most recently the Forerunner 735XT. Each of these devices are geared towards a specific set of users, such as runners, golfers, and also casual users who simply want to track their typical exercise routines.

The Vivosmart HR+ has a GPS radio, a virtual pacer mode, and a feature that gives users the ability to keep track of their personal records. Looking at its design, the Vivosmart HR+ is almost identical to its predecessor, the Vivosmart HR.

The Vivosmart HR+ has a 1-inch touchscreen display, which has a 160x68 resolution. Keeping its minimalists design, the smart wearable device comes with a single button on the band. The main, and perhaps the most crucial difference between the Vivosmart HR+ and the Vivosmart HR is that the former has GPS functionality. This will allow users to view a map of their activities through Garmin's Connect app which is available on both iOS and Android platforms.

The Vivosmart HR+ also has a 24/7 heart-rate monitor. The device can track its user's steps, calories burned, and even floors climbed. Just like its predecessor, the Vivosmart HR+ supports smartphone notifications, as well as inactivity alerts which tells a user to move periodically.

There is a bit of the tradeoff though with the Vivosmart HR+. With the introduction of the GPS sensor, the device will have a shorter battery life compared to its predecessor, according to Engadget. Garmin claims that on a single charge, the smart wearable can last up to eight hours with the GPS turned on. On the other hand, the device can last up to five days when the GPS is turned off.

The Garmin Vivosmart HR+ is priced at $220.
